Health checking computers

You can run a health check on one or more computers in an establishment. Running a health check ensures printer settings and drive mappings exist and are correct. Running the health check produces a log file that reports any problems it has found, and any fixes it has made. When you run a health check on many items, it may take some time to complete.

To health check a computer

  1. From the left-hand pane, expand Picture of the Computers icon Computers and choose All Computers.

  2. From the right-hand pane, select the computer you want to run the health check on.

  3. From the toolbar, choose Picture of the Health Check button, and then click Yes.

  4. The health check starts. You can check progress by choosing Picture of the Health Check button Health Check from the left-hand pane.

  5. The health check produces a log file that reports any problems it has found, and any fixes it has made. When the health check has stopped, you can view the log file by clicking the View Log button.

  6. Click the Done button to close the log file.

Notes

  • You do not have to wait for one health check to complete before you start a health check on a different item or items. You can run up to 10 health checks at the same time.

  • To run a health check, you can also choose Health Check from the Tasks menu.

  • You can use the same process to health check selected computers. Use the All Computers list to select all of the required computers. (You can filter the list to easily find the required computers.)

  • If there is one or more health checks running when you try to close the RM Management Console, you will be warned.

  • You can also run a health check on an establishment, a user, a location, a program set, or a staff subject area.
